ARNO, the light of Naples - 2023
Arnaud Boueilh, or Arno’, a Parisian and Neapolitan painter, is inspired by the airy and marine spaces of the Campania coast, and is equally inspired by the materials and shapes of the buildings, both remote and recent, of the city and its surroundings; Arnaud has the double gaze of the landscape artist and the architect.
The cracks, patinas, lesions and oxidations of the walls and plaster become paintings that recall the humble splendors of seventeenth-century Dutch painting: in a famous “view” of Delft it was “a small stretch of yellow wall” that revealed to Proust the secret of a masterpiece.
